American Ghia
Some confusion is likely to be caused, at least on the European side of the Atlantic, By Ford's description of this one, known as
the Mark I Marque. Based on an ordinary European Granada shell, the front and rear ends were dolled up by Ghia - as was the interior
- at the request of Ford U.S. who begin their press release with these words:
Bearing the Mark I badge on its U.S. influenced grille .....
If that little number is not by Mercedes out of Rolls-Royce then someone in Dearborn ought to be shown a few examples to make the point
clear. True the standard Granada did not ape that shape; but it have looked very smart if it had, and might have gone further up-market
than it did; but let's not have anyone kidding us that it was an American idea.
