Hi, I came across your site looking for Granada's. Some nice cars here. I have a boat with an essex ford V6 water cooled engine. The dual carb is giving trouble, cuts after full power for 15mins or so. After looking at it i saw the car was'nt hucked up to the cooling inlet. On closer inspection the carb seems to be missing a few bits. Ive got ridiculous quotes to replace it in total and i don't believe i need to. I have images online at my website under the ford essex button - www.gavin-casey.com If you maybe have a look and see if you spot anything. I believe the choke is gone off it & the vacuum advance. I've never worked on a carb before so advice is greatly appreciated.
If anyone can help in sourcing the bits missing, or indeed even tell me what is missing off it!! i really aprreciate the help.
thanks

Big HI from rainy Finland!
Stumbled to this site and thought to share my project to you also. I have a 1974 Consul GT with 3.0 liter Essex engine. At this moment it is all pieces and waiting that I can build the engine according to my plans to it.
The engine is going to get two turbos and direct injection made by me. also it needs some kind of engine control unit. this is only just in planning process, because I´m doing this project also as my school project to get my papers.
Goal is to take GT to Drag Race, but also drive it daily at summer. Boys are excited of this.. Two turbos, yeah! :) |

I spent 6 months in australia a couple years back and drove something called a 'ford falcon', a fantastic car, built 1982 and bought by me for $600 with 3000,000k on the clock... It took me all the way round aus without a hickup and i was sad to see it go when i returned to the uk, but blow me, driving to work the other day i see an almost identical car parked up in someones drive, who'd have thunk it, a ford Granada. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and it only a matter of time before i get my hands on a 1982 granada in green. Ill let you know how i get on. |

The Ford Granada was my favourite car 31 years ago. This was before the launch of the MkII, which wasn't until September that year. It was probably also in September that year when I learnt in What Car about the Volovos being built to a higher safety standard than the Fords. After that, my interest in Granadas was effectively downhill. However, on my Bar Mitzvah, which was on the 24th of June 1978, I was treated to a ride in a MkII Granada then a MkI Granada. I believe they were both metallic red in colour. The MkI was the one that took me back to Leicester from Nottingham that day. Unfortunately I fell asleep en route! In my speech, probably at the Communal Hall in Leicester's Stoneygate, I joked stating that I hoped someone would buy me a luxurious Granada; they then laughed.
Anyway, I have the ambition to be the next man on the Moon! Please check me out at bbc.com. Just put MARS PLEASE or MARS JEREMY in its search engine to access it all. Please also read my articles in my website. |

I am a journalist sourcing some info for an article about the Ford Granada, to publish in a Portuguese Cassic Car magazine.
I came across this website, and has given me plenty of information. I really enjoy the Granada, and I am doing my efforts for the community to see that this is more than just a big Ford.
Shame for the Scorpio,though...
Well done. I will keep coming back. |
